JAMES M. GUINN ELEMENTARY TILE RESTORATION PROJECT

This project involved restoring a 30 year old mosaic mural depicting the history of the United States. The 2 x 3 foot panels were originally glued to plywood. It was necessary to remove all the remaining mosaic tiles, transfering them to new plywood and tile backerboard (the correct way of creating a mosaic mural). Many areas were missing the original tiles due to them falling off over the years. I had to color match and glaze new tiles, which were then used to recreate the missing areas. Tedious work to say the least! That 30 year old mural is now as good as new. If your ever passing thru Anaheim go take a look. -ck

I wanted to say thank you soo much for repairing our beautiful mural! We have teachers at our site who remember making the mural as students so this is very special to our school! It looks amazing and when I walk in each morning, I am reminded of the tradition and culture of our students and this school. Thank you so much! It looks amazing!
